Want New Friends? Try Cursing!
A new study by British Scientists has found that normal use of profanity in the workplace can help reduce thoughts of frustration and boost your social relationships. I don’t know about you but a majority of the jobs we’ve had in the past required no cursing in the workplace and if you did you were immediately terminated, depending on the extent of the situation. Their study however, "Swearing as a Response to Pain," is published in August's NeuroReport, a journal "for rapid communication of neuroscience research." The report by researchers at England's Keele University found volunteers withstood pain longer when they resorted to cursing. Researchers tested how 64 students tolerated pain by having them sink a hand into ice water as they repeated swear words. They were then asked to do it again while saying non-offensive words to describe a table. They found that the volunteers who used foul language could keep their hands underwater for about 40 seconds longer and felt less pain. They also said a person that swears several times a day is happier, has less stress and is not as prone to high blood pressure or a heart attack and they suggested this also be done at your work or school. So next time you get a nasty little paper cut say “Damnit” and the pain will disappear and you’ll have two new friends to help you! http://journals.lww.com/neuroreport/Abstract/2009/08050/Swearing_as_a_response_to_pain.4.aspx

Pet Insurance
Has your pet accidently ever gotten outside? What happens if your pet is struck by a vehicle or attacked by a wild animal and you are low on cash at the time? Sometimes pet emergencies can cost us upwards to about 1,000 dollars depending on the damage and surgery your pet must undergo. We love our pets and of course we will pay to save them but to what cost to us. Pet supplies can be costly, including routine vaccinations, flea treatments, ear cleaning solutions, treats, and preventive products to control barking or cat spraying. Take control of your pet expenses. Thankfully several companies have begun to offer pet insurance for our fluffy friends to help us out with these costs and are more affordable than you think! There are several different plans for you to choose from depending on what will suit your pets needs like dental, shots, routine care, emergency care, all of which you can pick and choose to include or not. At the VPI Pet Insurance website for example, you fill out information to get a free quote and after that they give you package options ranging anywhere from around $30 a month to $50. So don’t forget your pet has health needs too!

Wal-Mart Goes Green!!
As part of its continuing hard work to "go green," mega retailer Wal-Mart is looking to measure the social and environmental impacts of its products. Sam Eaton reports. The new plan will require every Wal-Mart to put “eco-labels” on all its products which are designed to measure the full environmental impact of everything it sells. Wal-Mart now wants its 60,000 suppliers to provide details on everything from the energy they consume, to how the natural resources in their products are extracted. That information, along with how the items are used and disposed of, will be summarized on new product labels. A supplier will basically not be able to sell its products on Wal-Mart shelves unless it releases how their products are made and show how they are environmentally friendly. Wal-Mart is such a mega chain that this could completely change the way the manufacturing industry is run and operated. The manufacturers will have to fork out more money to make sure their products meet the “green requirements” of Wal-Mart and for some suppliers this may cost them but it will be better for the environment so which will help you sleep at night more money out of your pocket or more gas emissions in the air you breathe? We salute your efforts Wal-Mart!
