Once again, Hard Rock International is turning the traditionally orange and black month of October into PINKTOBER.

The restaurant and hotel chain, most synonymous with its music memorabilia-bedecked eateries, kicked off its 12th annual, month-long campaign against breast cancer on September 27th by presenting multi-platinum recording artist and breast cancer survivor Melissa Etheridge with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"I'm honored and thrilled to be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and it's an added bonus that I'm able to share this with my Hard Rock family," said Etheridge, who is also the "Artist Ambassador" for the campaign. "Hard Rock's PINKTOBER program has given me a platform to share my message of hope and to educate people around the world about this life-altering disease."

This year’s event will also feature colorful TV personality Kelli Osbourne, who kicked off Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos’ portion of the campaign, “Get Into Bed For A Cause,” at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.

"As someone whose family has been touched by cancer, I appreciate the chance to participate with Hard Rock Hotels on its PINKTOBER campaign," said Osbourne.  "This is an important cause that affects women everywhere, and I'm proud to help make a difference."

Pinktober Guitar PinThe campaign, which was started in 2000 as an effort to raise both breast cancer awareness and funds for breast cancer research, works in conjunction with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and The Caron Keating Foundation. “Get Into Bed For A Cause” invites guests to stay in select Pink Sheet Rooms in participating Hard Rock Hotels, and includes pink robes and commemorative PINKTOBER pins. Twenty-five percent of room revenues will be donated to BCRF and related charities worldwide.

Support can also be given through the purchase of limited edition PINKTOBER merchandise, including the commemorative pin, which is a wearable replica of Etheridge’s custom Ovation guitar, and an assortment of apparel. Seventy-five percent of all pin sales and 15% of all apparel sales will be donated to BCRF and the Carol Keating Foundation (UK only).

Hard Rock will be hosting an array of events, including star-studded pink carpet soirees and a slew of high-energy concerts. To find out more, visit http://www.hardrock.com/philanthropy/pinktober/pinktober-2011.aspx
