Funny, Sexy & Unique
Best May Television

by Raeanne Rubenstein & Solana Hawkenson

As I’m sure you all know, loyal viewers, Dish loves television! Be it Romance, Drama, Fantasy, Documentary, Sci Fi, Comedy,  or Reality, we just can't get enough! We are
also fans of the actors that bring the best shows to life for us, of which there are so many on on TV these days. Think handsome (Jon Hamm, Madmen), beautiful (Kerry Washington, Scandal), undead, (the delicious Ian Somerhalder, Vampire Diaries) the lovably psychotic ((Michael C. Hall, Dexter)  and the wacky (Jane Lynch, Glee) for starters. Plus, there’s one more characteristic a show must have in order to capture our hearts. It has to be good! Really, really good!

Except for the Summer time, when the networks roll out a raft of fun shows designed, not to inform us or make us think particularly, but simply to entertain. And this Summer’s line-up is no exception. Check out these shows premiering this May - light-hearted, funny, sexy and definitely unique. How about Family Tools, for example? Or The Big Brain Theory? I Hate My Yard? America’s Cutest Cat? and Rock My RV starring rocker Bret Michaels for a start?

So wherever you are when the urge to watch TV strikes, whether on the beach with your iPad or in your living room keeping company with your TV, we hope you'll check them out. After all, it's Summer, so enjoy it!

Now, armed with big dreams, power tools and a slacker assistant Darren (Edi Gathegi), Jack becomes the new “Mr. Jiffy-Fix”.  But it’s not easy: Jack has a tendency to bite off more than he can chew and it doesn't help that his dad is always telling him what to do. But if Jack can find his way, with a little help from his family including his outspoken Aunt Terry (Leah Remini), his teenage cousin, Mason (Johnny Pemberton), and Darren's flirty sister, Stitch (Danielle Nicolet) he just might finally make his father proud.

Tyler Perry’s LOVE THY NEIGHBOR | OWN, Wednesdays, May 29, 9 et/pt
Tyler Perry's Love Thy Neighbor, the new situation comedy by writer and director Tyler Perry is a wonderfully fresh show about a middle class family, and their daily joys, struggles, triumphs and fumbles. Hattie Mae Love lives in the simple home that she and one of her husbands bought some time ago. Linda, her daughter, splits her time between Hattie's home, and the apartment she sometimes shares with her on-again, off-again husband Lionel. Danny, Linda's son, is his mother's pride and joy, being young, handsome, smart and looking for a job. After graduating from college, Danny finds himself on his grandmother Hattie Mae's sofa. Floyd, the uncle, through his late brother's marriage to Hattie Mae, is an ever-present thorn in the family's side. Like old luggage, they can never seem to get rid of him. In the first season of this comic tale, Hattie Mae has had enough of grown people living in her house. She puts her foot down and shows the toughest love there is by sending Linda and Danny to the door. Danny moves in with his friend Sam, and Linda eventually helps out down at Hattie Mae's Love Train Diner. All in all, Love Thy Neighbor is a collection of stories that warm the heart, provoke thought, and always serves up a heap of laughs. Through all the changes, there is one constant, and that is the universal language called Love. It's all about love! / Issue 146 - June 3872
