A whole New Year equals a whole New You, and many of us have already failed at keeping our New Year's resolutions. Luckily enough for us, Spring offers us a chance to start over anew, by recreating ourselves. As we try to recover from the cold winter winds with this spring's hottest new trends, we can’t forget that no look will be complete without a fresh hair-do and cute accessories to complement it all. Some remind us of the Queens we really are, while others take away some of the stress that comes with being our perfect, royally divine selves!

The Cut

The Bob
A few celebrities like Adele, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Miranda Kerr are rocking cuts shorter than they’ve ever had before, bringing the bob back in style this spring and we love it!

She Bangs
For something a little more subtle, bangs might be the way to go. She bangs were featured all over the runway in shows like Alexander Wang (shaggy fringe) and Prada (baby bangs) during the Spring/Summer Fashion Week 2016.

Fake It
If you’re not ready for the chop, you can always test the waters on a night out with a faux bang or wig, as seen on models in the Vera Wang show and with Zendaya’s new pixie cut. You could think of it like test driving a car, before you go ahead and show it off!

Naturally You

Your Natural Do
Life can be hard enough as it is. If you’ve been fighting with your hair, maybe it’s time to embrace your natural hair like the models on the runway for Stella McCartney and Tommy Hilfiger, and enjoy more fun in the sun. Sometimes, the best style is expressing yourself!

Relaxed and in Control

Twisted/Low Bun
Tory Birch, Zac Posen and Rag & Bone all went for a more relaxed look in their shows, to be more relatable to the everyday woman using a low, twisted or half bun. Now you don’t have to worry if it looks like you didn’t try. You’re Always Fabulous!

Adding Some Edge

Braids & Twist

If you want to add some texture or edge to those straight locks, try adding some peek-a-boo braids or simple twist like seen in the shows for Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Valentino. Bring out your inner bad girl and show it off shamelessly!

Young & Classic

The Low Ponytail

Chanel, Marni and Miu Miu all gave their models the graduated school girl look with low set ponytails, adding a dark lip or metal accessories to vamp up the look.

The Carmen Miranda

What better way to say you’re ready to dance the night away than adding feathers and fruit to those luscious wavy locks like Diane von Furstenberg did for her show? This could really spice up your look without drastically changing your hair.

All Tied Up

Eliminate flyaways by wrapping your hair with ribbon ties like in Lanvin and Badgley Mischka. And if you really want to edge things up, go the zip tie route like Christopher Kane or tuck your hair into your choker like Dior.

Royalty Rules
Remind everyone who the true queen is with crown piece headbands (Saint Laurent), brooch style hair barrettes (Marc Jacobs), gold pieces (Rodarte) or weave thread for your up-dos (Alberta Ferretti).
We all know your hair is what really makes the outfit and gives you the extra confidence to have the best day ever. Whatever style you choose, the secret is to wear it like you own it, like the style is your own and you invented it. With so many styles to choose from, you’re sure to find one to complete your new look. / Issue 190 - June 2018
