Helen of Troy, the movie, is an epic story of love and war fought to win the love of the most beautiful woman in the world. That woman, Helen, was born the daughter of the most powerful God, Zeus. Her incredible beauty was a curse from which no one could escape. It stars Sienna Guillory (The Time Machine) making her U.S. television debut as Helen. Matthew Marsden (Black Hawk Down) is her illicit lover, Paris.

When a young prince from Troy named Paris first sees Helen, he has no idea who she is-he only knows he wants her, and wants to be with her. And because his father has sent him to certain death at the hands of the Greeks, he has nothing to lose. Hoping that love will lead them away from the curse of her beauty to live in peace, Paris and Helen flee together. What they don’t realize is that they have played into the plans of the fierce young King Agamemnon. He has coveted Troy, wanting to add it to his empire. Now he has his excuse. So begins ancient civilization’s greatest war. For ten years it would rage around the walls of the beautiful city of Troy until the two civilizations, both Greece and Troy, nearly collapsed. And what followed was far worse than anything seen during those long years of war.

No expense was spared in the creation of this film-ancient techniques were used to weave and dye the clothe for the costumes, to create the heavy metal armor or the warriors, to recreate the ramparts of the besieged Troy, and of course to reinvent the awesome and legendary Trojan Horse. Of course, special effects also enhance the already realistic look and feel.
