In the 30 years since the 26-year-old Gram Parsons died of a drug overdose in a motel room in Joshua Tree National Park, his legend has continued to grow. Something about his great music and passionate songwriting, his compelling personae, his unique fashion sense, and the dramatic stories about his life and death continue to captivate people to this day. Could it be because his mentor was Keith Richards? Could it be because he was responsible for jump-starting the career of Emmy Lou Harris? Could it be because his road manager stole his body and burned it in Joshua Tree State Park, part of a secret pact?
