While perusing my e-mail one boring afternoon, I noticed a message of interest pop up.Well hello, Dish was being offered an interview with the multi-talented Chuck Norris. Out of the blue, fond memories of me squeezing my tiny 12-year-old frame into Dad’s too-small-for-both-of-us barcolounger came to mind-after all, we both enjoyed watching “Walker, Texas Ranger”

I’m quite certain that most of you have watched Chuck Norris as the courageous Cordell Walker on “Walker, Texas Ranger,” at some point during its eight full seasons (which ended in 2001), but I’ll bet that you didn’t know that it was the most successful Saturday night series on CBS since “Gunsmoke.” In addition to his successful TV career, Norris has also starred in more than 20 major motion pictures, including “Delta Force”, (1986) “Missing In Action”,(1984) and “Sidekicks,” (1992) and has also written the screenplays for a number of his box office hits.

Norris is also a martial artist of great renown, having been honored with a Tae Kwon Do 8th degree black belt, and he is also a six time Professional Middleweight Karate Champion. He is a New York Times bestselling author of two books, including the 2004 autobiographical, “Against All Odds.” Recently, Mr. Norris completed his first book of fiction, called “The Justice Riders.” This is the first title in what is to be a 3-part series of Justice Rider novels, all set in the Old West (and perhaps a new role for Mr. Norris?)

In 1992, and also against all odds, Mr. Norris founded the “Kick-Start Program,” in Houston, Texas, teaching 150 at-risk children martial arts as part of the Public Education curriculum. Since that time, his program, which instills discipline and respect and raises self-esteem, serves more than 5,000 youngsters year-round at 35 schools in the Dallas and Houston, Texas, areas.

As if this was not enough, Mr. Norris recently developed the “World Combat League,” a city vs. city kick boxing competition, with all revenues going to his “Kick Start” program. And last but hardly least, at age 65, Mr. Norris can boast that he is the father of seven children, including 4-year-old twins, Dakota Alan and Danilee Kelley. Wow!
