Here at Dish, the AMERICANA MUSIC CONFERENCE is one of our most-anticipated events of the year. Not only does the conference feature a fascinating array of educational panels, and a staggering number of showcases featuring musical legends and upstarts from around the country, as well as a glorious array of homegrown Nashville talent, but it’s also the occasion for the “gathering of the tribe”. Old friends and new fans of this unique, indefinable brand of American music, gather to learn, network, and listen. The cork on this amazingly fizzy bottle is the 5th ANNUAL AMERICANA HONORS & AWARDS, hosted once again with the wry humor of Jim Lauderdale, featuring an all-star house band led by Buddy Miller, and starring artists from Vince Gill to Charlie Daniels to Elvis Costello.

This year is the 7th (wow!) Annual Americana Music Conference, which takes place Wednesday, September 20 through Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Nashville Convention Center. It will bring together an estimated 900 artists, record executives, managers, agents, music publishers, performing rights society executives, music retailers, producers, promoters, allied professionals and major media.

Over 130 artists will be playing at the Americana Music Conference! A virtual Who's Who will perform including stars such as Dave Alvin; Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint; Alejandro Escovedo; the Cherryholmes; the Derailers; Ruthie Foster; James Hunter; Kieran Kane, Kevin Welch and Fats Kaplin; Jim Lauderdale; Claire Lynch; Delbert McClinton; James McMurtry; Buddy Miller; Mindy Smith; Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives; Paul Thorn Band; Tony Joe White and so many more! And that’s without the the afore-mentioned “Americana Honors & Awards” at the historic Ryman Auditorium, and an Honors & Awards Cocktail Party sponsored by GAC and BellSouth. If reading about all this has left you feeling exhausted, there’s even more-daily hosted luncheon showcases, countless evening parties, and a sold-out Trade Show featuring CMT’s Americana Art Gallery.

And the best part is that, unlike other music conferences, YOU can join in the fun, since the public is welcome! So bring yourself down to the Nashville Convention Center September 20-22 for an experience you’ll never forget!

Here is what it will cost to attend:

Americana Music Association member - $350 (through September 15, includes ONE Honors & Awards ticket)

Non-member - $450 (through September 15, includes ONE Honors & Awards ticket)

If this is too rich for your blood, or time will not permit, here is the bargain of the year: Americana Evening Showcase Wristbands $25 (admission to all sanctioned venues on all nights)
