BATTLE OF THE FUNNYMEN:

Adam Sandler vs. Jack Black
It was a battle of the funnymen at the box office this weekend – in one corner it was Jack Black and in the other, Adam Sandler. The two comedians were pitted against each other to see which of their comedy’s premieres would come out on top – “Kung Fu Panda” or “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan” – a panda doing kung fu vs. an eccentric hairdresser moonlighting as a counterterrorism expert. Kung Fu Panda and its star, Jack Black, reigned supreme not only in the box office, but on eBay too, chopping the competition nearly in half:

JACK BLACK:

  • 117 Number of Jack Black items sold
  • $14.49 Average selling price of Jack Black items
  • $379.99 Highest Jack Black selling item
  • 484 Number of Jack Black listings on eBay.com

KUNG FU PANDA:

  • 97 Number of Kung Fu Panda items sold
  • $11.14 Average selling price of Kung Fu Panda items
  • $52.00 Highest Kung Fu Panda selling item
  • 263 Number of Kung Fu Panda listings on eBay.com

ADAM SANDLER:

  • 60 Number of Adam Sandler items sold
  • $14.57 Average selling price of Adam Sandler items
  • $89.99 Highest Adam Sandler selling item
  • 308 Number of Adam Sandler listings on eBay.com

YOU DON’T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN:

  • 4 Number of You Don’t Mess with the Zohan items sold
  • $9.51 Average selling price of You Don’t Mess with the Zohan items
  • $14.17 Highest You Don’t Mess with the Zohan selling item
  • 7 Number of You Don’t Mess with the Zohan listings on eBay.com
  • According to Karen Bard, eBay’s Pop Culture Expert, this was not a fair match-up. “Kung Fu Panda appeals to a greater, family-oriented audience while You Don’t Mess with the Zohan mainly appeals to Sandler fans and teenagers – even with his own kung fu-esque moves, Zohan didn’t stand a chance!”
