With the economy not doing so well and the holiday season looming, we all know it’s definitely a stressful time of year. But don’t let that stress show all over your face. Instead, why don’t you enjoy a restful and relaxing day at the spa- right in your own home?!

Try these great recipes for facials, masks, and more using easy ingredients that you probably already have in your cupboard. You’ll discover you’ve had the ingredients for a fabulous day at the spa in your own home all along! (In case of food allergies, be sure to test the ingredients on your skin at least 24 hours in advance.)
Avocado Carrot Cream Mask
If you’re looking for a 3-in-1 punch for your face, then you might want to try the Avocado Carrot Cream Mask. All three of the main ingredients are full of nutrients that will work wonders for your skin. Avocados contain Vitamin E which is a great moisturizer even for the most sensitive of skin. Carrots are full of beta-carotene and antioxidants, while cream is high in calcium and protein. Also, this mask may increase your skin’s collagen, which keeps skin firm and supple. To make this mask, just follow this simple recipe:
  • 1 avocado, mashed
  • 1 carrot, cooked and mashed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons honey
Combine all ingredients in a bowl until smooth. Spread gently over your face and neck and leave in place 10-15 minutes. Rinse with cool water and follow with your favorite toner (or make yourself some Cucumber Honey Toner. See recipe below).
Goddess Yogurt Body Mask
With this cold winter weather, you’re probably finding that your skin could use some moisture. Why not try the Goddess Yogurt Body Mask that will moisturize your whole body and leave you feeling like, what else, a goddess!
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons puréed pumpkin OR
  • 3 tablespoons puréed carrots
Use canned (nothing added), or slightly cooked pumpkin or carrots. Drain and purée the pumpkin or carrots in a blender. Pour into a bowl with the plain yogurt and honey. Draw a warm bath. Lather your face and body with the yogurt mask. Sink into a warm bath and soak for 10-20 minutes. Rinse in the shower, tone, and apply a light moisturizer.
Refreshing Orange Scrub
For help with getting rid of dry winter skin, try a Refreshing Orange Scrub with a delectable citrus scent that will help to exfoliate your skin. This great scrub only contains two ingredients and would be easy enough to make and use once a week.
  • 1/2 orange
  • 4 tablespoons cornmeal
Squeeze orange juice and pulp into a bowl and add the cornmeal. Mix into a paste.
Apply to your freshly washed face and body. Scrub gently for 2-3 minutes. Rinse, tone, and moisturize.

Chocolate Facial Mask
Who doesn’t like chocolate? No one we know! This Chocolate Facial Mask will really make you feel decadent, luxurious, and, most importantly, pampered. This mask is so deliciously moisturizing that we only recommend it for people with normal skin. 
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream 
  • 2 teaspoons cottage cheese 
  • 1/4 cup honey 
  • 3 teaspoons oatmeal 
Mix all ingredients together, using a blender if needed, and smooth onto face. Relax for ten minutes, then wash off with warm water. 

Bath Cookies
For those of you that love to bake, why not go the extra mile for the guests of your stay-at-home spa day! Make a batch of these Bath Cookies, and you will have enough to send home with all your friends. This recipe is a snap to use—if you can make real cookies, then you can make Bath Cookies! Also, try using different essential oils for a variety of scents.
  • 2 cups finely ground sea salt 
  • 1/2 cup baking soda 
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch 
  • 2 tablespoons light oil 
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 5-6 drops essential oil of your choice
Preheat your oven to 350° F. Combine all the listed ingredients and form into a dough. Roll a teaspoon of dough gently in the palm of your hand until it forms a ball.  Form all dough into one teaspoon balls and place them on non-greased cookie sheet. Bake your bath cookies for ten minutes until they are lightly browned. Do not over bake. Allow the bath cookies to cool completely. To use, drop 1 or 2 cookies into a warm bath and allow them to dissolve. This recipe yields 24 cookies, enough for 12 baths.
